Highlights

Túnel de Guajataca in Isabela– a historic railroad tunnel built way back in 1904 to haul sugar cane. Walking through the cool, dark tunnel is a neat experience, and the second you step out the other side, you are treated to a stunning view of the wild Atlantic Ocean. From there, you can take a breezy stroll along the coast, taking in the sights of wild palm trees, sandy pathways, and massive waves crashing against the rocky shores. It is an amazing spot for photos and a great way to stretch your legs with a bit of fresh sea air.

Rincón– A famous, easygoing surf town known for its gorgeous sunsets and welcoming community. Here, you’ll visit the Punta Higüero Lighthouse, a 70-foot tower built in 1892 that sits inside a beautifully kept grassy park. You can wander the boardwalks, check out local artisan booths, or grab a refreshing cocktail at the Ola Sunset Café right on-site. Right below the lighthouse is the famous Domes Beach, where you can watch surfers ride big waves. The beach gets its name from a quirky landmark sitting right behind the sand—a bright blue, decommissioned 1960s nuclear reactor dome! If you are visiting during the winter, you might even spot humpback whales splashing out in the ocean while enjoying a world-class western sunset.

La Parguera– a colorful waterfront fishing village built around a maze of beautiful mangrove channels. The town square, El Poblado, really comes alive at night with a fun, festive atmosphere. You can stroll the boardwalk, listen to live salsa and acoustic music, shop for handmade souvenirs, and snack on fresh seafood and local tapas. The grand finale of the day is a nighttime boat ride out into the bioluminescent bay. Because this is the only bio bay on the island where you are allowed to swim, you can jump right into the dark water and watch it magically light up with a glowing blue-green shimmer every time you move!
